Comparison of Thermodynamic and Experimental Yields during Supercritical Water Gasification of Biomass and Pyrolysis Char
نویسنده
چکیده
Materials with different C/O ratios and volatile matter content (E.grandis and four pyrolysis chars of E.grandis) were used as feedstock during SCWG experiments at 450 °C and 27 MPa. Experimental gas yields and gasification efficiencies were compared to calculated thermodynamic equilibrium results to determine the effect of O/C ratio and volatile matter content on the experimental and thermodynamic equilibrium product yields. Thermodynamic equilibrium calculations show that feed material with low O/C ratios will result in the highest CH4 yields. Experimental results however showed that the volatile matter in the feed material (not considered during equilibrium calculations), affects the extent in which the carbon in the feed material is converted to the gas phase.

Thermal decomposition and gasification of biomass pyrolysis gases using a hot bed of waste derived pyrolysis char.
Chars produced from the pyrolysis of different waste materials have been investigated in terms of their use as a catalyst for the catalytic cracking of biomass pyrolysis gases during the two-stage pyrolysis-gasification of biomass. The chars were produced from the pyrolysis of waste tyres, refused derived fuel and biomass in the form of date stones. The results showed that the hydrocarbon tar y...
متن کاملGasification-based Biomass
The conversion of biomass to a lowor medium-heating-value gaseous fuel (biomass gasification) generally involves two processes. The first process, pyrolysis, releases the volatile components of the fuel at temperatures below 600°C (1,112°F) via a set of complex reactions. Included in these volatile vapors are hydrocarbon gases, hydrogen, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, tars, and water vapor. B...
متن کاملSupercritical Water Gasification of Biomass and Organic Wastes
With the exhaustion of fossil fuels and the severe pollution of the environment, it’s urgent to find substitute renewable energy resources. Biomass is a kind of widespread and abundant renewable resource with lower sulfur content than fossil fuels, so the pollution to environment from biomass usage is much slighter than that from fossil fuels usage. Besides, zero emission of CO2 can be realized...
